As part of the regular assessment of security at tourist resorts, Egypt's Minister of Tourism, Hisham Zaazou, has today announced that the Egyptian Government will introduce a series of new security measures which will further strengthen security at key tourist resorts and international airports.
The actions include:
1. An additional 250million EGP (USD 32million) immediately committed to the new measures
2. The installation of additional CCTV systems in Sharm el Sheikh and Hurghada that will create comprehensive coverage of the resorts. These will be integrated with private CCTV systems in, for example hotels, and therefore enhance Command and Control capabilities. This programme will be rolled out across other resorts in due course
3. The purchase and introduction of the latest scanning and detection equipment
4. Additional security personnel in the resorts who will monitor key points around hotels and access areas from both the sea and land
5. The introduction of significant numbers of additional sniffer dogs for the resorts
Announcing these measures, Tourism Minister Hisham Zaazou said:
"The world is facing enhanced threats every single day. Egypt has a long track record of enhancing security and seeking to ensure that our citizens and tourists visiting our country are safe and secure. These additional measures bring our tourist security to another leve!. However, we will not stop there. We constantly review our capabilities on a regular basis and will continue to do so.
The security of visitors to Egypt remains our highest priority. I believe that these new measures will further add to the security of our resorts while not being intrusive to tourists so they can get on with enjoying their holidays."

Nosotros acabamos de regresar, fuimos en un grupo familiar con un viaje personalizado y también estábamos un poco inquietos por la situación en la zona antes de partir, la verdad es que allí se ve a todo el mundo haciendo su vida normal, no percibimos ningún tipo de inseguridad por ningún lado y nos movimos mucho.
Hola, hablando con los autóctonos de allí nos comentan que se ha notado el bajón de turistas, por lo que reciben de brazos abiertos las visitas mas si cabe.
Si que en exteriores recomiendan intentar no salirte del tiesto del recorrido del Nilo, El Cairo y viajar a ciertas ubicaciones en avión y no por carretera.
Yo no he percibido nada mas que gente amable. Eso si, en El Cairo la gente está muy estresada en la calle y en el tráfico, pero entendiendo que es inherente a su propia personalidad y no por nada externo.
Yo estoy aquí ahora y la verdad que se ve todo muy normal. Claro tampoco se menciona nada con respecto a la guerra.

Modificación sustancial de las recomendaciones de Foreign Commonwealth & Development Office al respecto de los lugares recomendables o no de ser visitados por los ciudadanos britanicos (una excelente referencia), el mapa ya refleja todos los oasis como novedad.
Otro que acaba de volver tras una semana haciendo el recorrido típico Luxor, Asuán y El Cairo y no he visto ningún tipo de inseguridad. Policía por las calles y puntos de control, pero creo que eso es habitual. Bastantes turistas, sobre todo españoles.
