Japan lifts restrictions for international Travelers ✈️ News for Travellers

On October 11, Japan has reopened its borders without restrictions to international tourism. It is now possible to travel to the country on your own, if you travel from other countries for short tourism stays, you can do so without the need for a visa. To travel to Japan, it will be necessary to present a complete vaccination certificate or a negative PCR test certificate carried out within 72 hours of the trip. Install the MySOS app for a Quarantine Fast Track. Register on the Visit Japan website.

As of October 11, 2022, the measure that limited the entry of foreign tourists on package tours has been eliminated. And the visa exemption measures established before Covid-19 have been resumed. The daily limit of people entering Japan for tourism has also been removed.

Requirements for tourists:

- Check if a visa is needed .

International tourists for tourism stays of up to 90 days do not need to obtain a visa.

All persons traveling to Japan must have a valid vaccination certificate or a negative Covid-19 test certificate carried out within 72 hours prior to travel.

Fill out the questionnaire in the app or web. Register your vaccination certificate or the negative Covid-19 test certificate in the app or web. The MySOS screen will turn blue when all the required information is submitted and reviewed by the authorities. You have to show your MySOS blue screen in the airport quarantine area.

If you use MySOS Web and don't have a smartphone, you can submit a hard copy of the web screens.


- On the Visit Japan website you have to register to facilitate immigration and customs procedures at airports.

Register the information requested by immigration and customs and get the QR codes on the Visit Japan website. You have to show the QR codes on the Visit Japan website upon arrival at Immigration and Customs.

Medical insurance
Tourists are recommended to take out private medical insurance that includes coverage for medical expenses, care and all services
related to Covid-19.


Use of masks
In Japan, masks continue to be used in all interior spaces, including public transport, as well as outdoors when safety distances cannot be maintained.

Yo he visto a Japoneses en San Francisco y en Las Vegas en grupos de turistas en Marzo 2022 y ninguno llevaba mascarillas.

Si, eso es la empatía japonesa. Mis amigos japoneses cuando han venido a Madrid, no se ponen la mascarilla, porque nadie la lleva, pero luego allí si.

Saludos desde Tokyo.
Desde mi último viaje a Japón el pasado mes de Marzo ahora mismo veo mucha más gente sin mascarilla incluso en el metro.
Que maravilla poder estar aquí por tercera vez este año.
