Once the biggest funfair on the Rhine has been erected on the Rheinwiesen meadows, summer will truly be here. This year too, the hottest season promises an exciting mix of sport, culture, music and dance. The climax will be our celebrations marking 70 years of North Rhine-Westphalia and 70 years of the state capital Düsseldorf. This summer our city will once again be pulling out all the entertainment stops – with something for all ages.
Biggest funfair on the Rhine
From 15 to 24 July, the marksmen’s club, St. Sebastianus Schützenverein Düsseldorf 1316 e.V., will be celebrating its patron saint, St. Apollinaris. This will already be the 115th time that the funfair city has been built up on the Rheinwiesen in Oberkassel. Funfair operators from both Germany and abroad will be presenting a huge variety of rides on an area of 165,000 sq m, guaranteeing fun for all the family. Another tradition that’s worth seeing is the “historical parade” with uniformed marksmen, brass bands, teams of horses and horse-drawn carriages. And this year, there will even be not just one but two fantastic firework displays – on the first and the last Friday of the funfair:

NRW Day 2016
The occasions of 70 years of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and 70 years of Düsseldorf as the state capital will be celebrated in style from 26 to 28 August. The city and state will be presenting themselves in their full diversity from the Rheinwiesen meadows in Oberkassel, along the Rhine embankment promenade and Königsallee, all the way to Schadowplatz. In the Altstadt (Old Town)/city centre area there will be a colourful fringe programme, presented on at least seven stages. There will also be a long cultural trail, numerous concerts featuring every musical genre, the traditional parade on Saturday and a ship parade on Sunday. Kids and teens will have plenty of opportunities to join in activities and party to their heart’s:

China Festival Düsseldorf 2016
On 17 September, the sixth China Festival Düsseldorf will take place under the motto of “The Dragon Dances in Düsseldorf”. Red pagoda tents will be set up all around the Jan Wellem equestrian monument, where visitors will be able to experience tea ceremonies, try out calligraphy or take part in a Chinese language taster course. They will also be able to get insights into traditional Chinese medicine and Chinese cooking, and there will be events for children, too. The stage programme offers a colourful cross-section of traditional music, dance, singing and acrobatics:

Hola,
Mil gracias.

Hola a tod@s!
Mañana volamos a Düsseldorf 3 personas.
